Down by four runs in the seventh inning, and still trailing two with two outs and nobody on in the top of the ninth inning, the Anaheim Angels rallied against Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon for a 7-6 victory today and a three-game sweep of their AL Division Series.

The ghosts of Dave Henderson’s home run off Donnie Moore in 1986 and three Division Series losses to the Red Sox in the last five years are gone. The Angels are in the ALCS, and the Red Sox are stunningly finished after only three games.
